STEAM Academy is an urban-built, tech-focused educational program which combines STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) principles, experimental learning, collaborative projects and data analysis for children and youth to gain real exposure to the skills and responsibilities of a Web Developer, Graphic Designer, Entrepreneur, and other Tech professions. The Academy has a strong interest in middle to low income urban communities with untapped potential for growth and innovation. The STEAM Academy program provides education and entrepreneurship skills using computer technology. This program teaches young people how to develop applications which many of them use often and enables them to be creative which can be very therapeutic. It can provide a sense of joy as they are learning and interacting with their peers and knowing there are people in their community who care about their well-being.
